Tuesday, August 31st at 12:30 pm we will host an online Q&A regarding three-week progress reports. We will review how Schoology can give you an insight into your child's coursework and how you can check the official grade book through Skyward.
Is there anything specific you would like us to cover? Please ask using the Q&A feature during the webinar or email questions@snyderisd.net. We will do our best to answer your questions live.

Snyder primary and intermediate schools will cancel campus lunch visits immediately. This includes dropping off meals for your student. We apologize for this, but we have to limit the amount of exposure for staff and students at this time to attempt to keep us healthy and at school. We are hopeful that we can make plans soon to allow lunch visitors again. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

IMPORTANT: if your child is sick, they need to stay home from school. Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 must stay home and may not come to school (per 25 Tex. Admin. Code § 97.7.). Students or staff should stay home if they have a fever greater than 100°F, sore throat, cough, body aches, vomiting, or diarrhea. Like with any illness, students may not return to school if they have a fever of 100.0 or above. If your child is taking medication to control their fever, they must stay home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
If your child is absent for any reason, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to notify the child’s school. Because virtual learning is not an option, it is critical to make arrangements to make up any missed assignments.

#2 Parents, did you know that you can see the vaccinations we have on file through Skyward? Just click on the "health info" tab to find out what we have on file.
Remember, school vaccination rules are in effect for the 2021-2022 school year. Students should be up-to-date, in the process of receiving vaccines, or have a valid exemption on file when school starts. Parents should forward the vaccine record to the campus nurse so that they can update their files. Should you have any questions please contact the nurse at your child’s campus.

#1 If you haven't already, please register your child before August 6th. Online registration is open and should only take about 10 minutes to complete! All students need to be registered for school. If your student did not attend Snyder ISD last year, you will need to complete the enrollment paperwork first. Snyder Intermediate School classes that achieved the highest percentages of their STAAR goals had a decision to make - hit Mrs. Cade with a pie in the face or drench her with a bucket of ice water. Mrs. Cade is a great sport, wouldn’t you agree?

💡 Please share your ideas about how $4.9 million in ESSER funding should be used to benefit Snyder ISD students.
We are collecting community feedback through the survey linked below. This survey takes about 5 minutes to complete, and your feedback will play a vital role in our planning. Therefore, please complete this survey before Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

What is ESSER? Congress has set aside approximately $11.2 Billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER Fund). These grants will be awarded to provide schools with emergency relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had and continues to have on elementary and secondary schools across the Nation.

We’ve been celebrating our teachers across the district this week! Here are a few photos of the fun at Snyder Intermediate School!

As we come to the end of Teacher Appreciation Week I am compelled to proclaim that every day should be “Teacher Appreciation Day”! As I have said many times before, short of the clergy there is not a more honorable profession than being a teacher. Every day teachers inspire students, change lives and truly shape the world.
Our teachers do so much more than just teach reading, writing, and arithmetic; they also deal with countless issues that students bring with them to school each and every day. Snyder ISD is blessed to have amazing teachers, so on this last day of Teacher Appreciation Week, I say THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Eddie Bland, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools, Snyder ISD

The first round of STAAR testing begins tomorrow! Fourth grade students and Snyder High School English 1 and English 2 students will test this week.
Tue 4/27 • STAAR: English 1
Tue 4/27 • STAAR: 4th Grade Writing
Thu 4/29 • STAAR: English 2
Here are a few last-minute reminders:
1. Go to bed at a reasonable time. (10 hours of sleep is optimal.)
1. Eat a good breakfast (with protein if possible). Arrive early if you plan to eat breakfast at school.
2. Be to school early to have plenty of time to get ready for testing. We start testing at 8:00 am.
3. Students will need their laptops FULLY charged! This is important so that they don't have to worry about running out of battery during the test. The teachers only have a certain amount of outlets and we want students to be sitting in their optimal spot to be successful.
4. Encourage your child and tell them to do their best. They have been working very hard and we are proud of them!
Parents have also been sent specific information from their school principals through ParentSquare.
To view the complete SISD STAAR testing schedule, visit our website www.snyderisd.net or click on the "events" icon in your ParentSquare app. Specific test days for third-grade students will be announced by your child's teacher.

If yesterday is any indication, the future for the SHS Speech and Debate team looks bright!
Fifth graders have been studying argumentative text and the students have been researching a topic all week. Mr. Birks, Mrs. Goodwin, and Mrs. Lewis’ classes had a live debate. Topics included, “Should 5th graders have smartphones?” and “Should students wear uniforms?”. The students did an excellent job presenting their arguments!
