Today marked the kickoff of our TEA-approved Mentor Program! We’re proud to be one of the few districts in the state not only selected for this grant, but also locally approved to manage and implement the program.
Day one of training for our mentors is in the books, and we’re excited to welcome our mentees and new teachers tomorrow at New Teacher Orientation. It’s going to be a great year of growth, support, and connection!

✨ A Peek into Snyder ISD: Celebrating Kindness and Connection in Ms. Bloyd's 4th Grade Classes!
Ms. Bloyd, a fourth-grade teacher at Snyder Intermediate School, brings her passion for social-emotional learning and kindness into the classroom every day. As a licensed master social worker and educator, she launched the 4th Grade Kindness Initiative to encourage students to recognize positive behaviors in their peers instead of focusing only on negative ones.
Here's how it works: students and staff nominate classmates exhibiting acts of kindness. Each week, Ms. Bloyd draws one student's name from each class, and if they've maintained good behavior, they receive a Kindness Award certificate and a coupon from the Kindness Book (e.g., a movie during lunch, a hat pass, or sitting with a friend). The best part? The person who nominated them receives a coupon too! Each nomination is proudly displayed on the school's Wall of Kindness, spreading positivity throughout the halls.
This initiative originally started in Ms. Bloyd’s classroom and quickly expanded to include the entire 4th grade—and recently, the first 5th grader was honored as well! Pictured are Dakota Craig (one of last week’s Kindness Award winners) and Ariah Mayes, who nominated her.
Another highlight of Ms. Bloyd’s classroom is the Lunch Bunch, a special weekly gathering where four to six students join her for lunch and treats. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build stronger connections by interacting with classmates they might not usually spend time with. Most importantly, it gives Ms. Bloyd a chance to learn more about her students, their lives, and their families.
Thank you, Ms. Bloyd, for fostering a culture of kindness and community at Snyder Intermediate School!

Snyder ISD is pleased to announce they have been awarded The Mentor Program Allotment (MPA). This allotment will allow the district to further develop and strengthen its beginning teacher mentoring program, ultimately benefiting students through increased teacher retention and effectiveness. We want to thank Kathy Scott, Director of Student Services, for her diligent work on this grant submission.
The MPA is a state initiative designed to help districts build or sustain mentoring programs for new teachers. These programs are grounded in research-based best practices and focus on improving student outcomes by supporting and retaining high-quality educators. Districts participating in the MPA commit to meeting rigorous requirements for mentors, district leaders, and campus leaders involved in the program. The MPA funds can be used for mentor stipends, release time for mentors and mentees, and high-quality mentor training.
Snyder ISD recognizes that providing comprehensive support and training for new teachers is a top priority. This MPA award will significantly enhance the district's ability to achieve this goal. The funding will allow Snyder ISD to provide its beginning teachers with the training and resources they need to thrive in the classroom and contribute to student success. The district is committed to fostering a supportive environment where new teachers can grow professionally and develop their skills, ensuring the best possible education for Snyder ISD students.

One of our favorite events of the year is the Retired Teachers Luncheon—an opportunity to celebrate and honor individuals who have dedicated their lives to education. Guests received a warm welcome and were treated to a special performance by the SHS Pride of the West Band. They enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the SFE Food Services catering crew and were served by the SHS Student Council and NHS members. The SHS Floral Design classes created beautiful centerpieces and a special take-home arrangement for each guest, adding an extra touch to this meaningful gathering.
It’s always a wonderful time to reconnect, reminisce, and show appreciation for these incredible educators. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event memorable!

Snyder ISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of education needs of the student. Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Snyder ISD in kindergarten through twelfth grade this school year is asked to visit or go by the student’s campus office to request a copy of the referral form.
This form must be returned to the school by December 2, 2024. Those unable to go by the school should call the campus to request a form be sent to them.
