Snyder ISD teachers will see additional increases in compensation thanks to House Bill 2 (HB 2), passed by the Texas Legislature to provide additional funding to public schools with the goal of improving educator pay and retention.
At the July Board of Trustees meeting, Snyder ISD approved the first phase of HB 2-funded salary increases:
$4,000 increase for teachers with 3–4 years of teaching experience
$8,000 increase for teachers with 5 or more years of teaching experience
This latest increase builds on the action taken by the Board in April, when they approved an investment of more than $1 million to restructure the teacher pay scale. That earlier step significantly raised salaries across experience levels, making Snyder ISD more competitive in recruiting and retaining high-quality teachers.
“We are grateful for the Board’s continued support and the state funding provided through HB 2,” said Superintendent Bob Rauch. “These increases reflect our belief that teachers should be valued for their dedication, and we are committed to recognizing the difference they make in students’ lives.”
Rauch continued, “That said, I want to be very clear: we have not forgotten about our staff in non-teaching roles. Every employee in Snyder ISD plays a vital role in supporting students, and we are committed to recognizing and honoring that work. The remaining HB 2 funds are still under review, and our focus now shifts to determining how to best allocate those funds for the staff who were not included in this initial round of increases.”
The Snyder ISD Board of Trustees will consider additional compensation increases later in July during its annual budget workshop.
