The SHS Student Publications Department will kick off its 13th annual coat and toy drive TODAY!
Coats and toys will be given to Gateway Family Services, the local women's shelter. The last day for donations has been extended to Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2020.
Please bring your GENTLY-used, CLEAN coats/jackets and NEW toys to the glass office at SHS before, during, and after school or to Room 229. Coats are needed for both children and adults in all sizes, as clients come and go all winter, and they keep them on hand all winter. New toys will be accepted for all ages.
So gently-used, clean or new coats/jackets (please don't bring us coats that are filthy, torn or smell bad - you'd be surprised what we've been given - if you won't wear it, why would you think someone else would?) and NEW toys (ONLY NEW toys).
Last year SHS donated 164 coats and 163 toys to Gateway Family Services. A little less than the previous year (288 coats and 233 toys), but we appreciate everything that was given. From a $250 donation from Snyder Daily News to the 24 toys from the golf teams to the 16 toys from volleyball to all of the individuals who bought toys or donated money, it was all appreciated.
The last day for donations will be Dec. 14. If you have any questions, please call 574-8835.
Representatives from Gateway said our drive helps replenish their coats every year and, of course, the toys are loved by the kids they go to!
